| The
amazing story of the Nepal Ski Team could have been penned through
a fantastic literary collaboration between Kipling and Kafka.
It has all the adventure and mystery of a tale from the orient
but the total absurdity and frustrating reality of modern life.
And it is entirely true – even though at times you will
be stretched to believe it.
But all of that can be found in the History of the Team section.
The most important reason for you to be here is to get the latest
news and facts about our current number 1 skier, Shyam Dhakal,
and his epic struggle against the endemic malpractice and mismanagement
that seems to infest sport in the developing world – if
not in other countries as well.
The simple truth of the situation is that poor Shyam has trained
his heart out for 8 years, reached the very edge of his goal
to become the first ever Nepali Alpine skier at the Olympics,
and then had all his hopes smashed by some very cruel people.
So now a whole group of people are helping him to win his struggle
for justice – he is a really nice guy and really liked
by everyone who knows him. Please take some time to read around
the site, check out the long history of the team, the press
cuttings and the photos. Get to know us and maybe you’ll
want to help Shyam as well – just giving your moral support
is really appreciated.
